Daily commitment

Does dialysis interfere with your daily life?

Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD)

CAPD supplies are portable, you can do it at most places. Each exchange is 30 minutes long and they can be adapted to suit your lifestyle and spend more time with your family.

Automated Peritoneal Dialysis (APD)

APD is performed during your sleep overnight. Your day time is free for your work, school or other daily activities. There is less interference with your family commitments.

Short Daily Home Hemodialysis (Short Daily HHD)

Treatments at home have a more flexible schedule. You can set your home hemodialysis schedule to accommodate your work schedule or family commitments.

Home Hemodialysis Overnight (Overnight HHD)

Overnight HHD is performed during your sleep. Your day time is free for your work, school or other daily activities. There is less interference with your family commitments.

Conventional Home Hemodialysis (Conventional HHD)

Conventional HHD is performed at home with a conventional hemodialysis machine. Each treatment is on average 4 hours long, 3 times a week. You may be able to adjust your dialysis schedule to accommodate your daily activities or family commitments.

Conventional In-centre Hemodialysis (ICHD)

Your clinic sets the schedule of your treatments. You have to go to the hospital/clinic 3 times a week for dialysis. Each treatment is about 4-5 hours. Daytime activities or any family commitments will need to be scheduled around your treatments. You may feel tired or experience discomfort such as nausea, leg cramps, etc. during or after the treatment.
