You have to go to designated hospital/clinic for dialysis 3 times a week. Nurses will connect you to the machine and there will be other patients present with you.
PD is performed at home by yourself or family/friend. You learn to do and manage your own treatments. Your clinic will train and follow up with you to ensure you are confident in dialyzing at home. Call your nurse if you have any medical/dialysis questions at home or call the machine company for technical support.

Treatments are provided in designated dialysis unit/clinic with nursing and medical support physically present. Nurses will connect and disconnect you to the machine. In some clinics, you may be able to perform some tasks by yourself.
For CAPD, you do not need a dialysis machine and only requirestorage space at home for solution supplies. Company will deliver boxes of dialysis solutions to your home every month. Number of boxes could be about 30 boxes per month. If you are on APD (performing PD overnight), you will also need space to keep and set up your dialysis equipment for daily treatment.
Home hemodialysis requires space for Hemo and Water Reverse Osmosis machines, as well as your dialysis supplies. Plumbing and electrical adjustment may be required.
In-centre Hemodialysis do not require any storage at home or home modification.
You would require a clean environment/area away from your pets at home to do home dialysis (i.e. home hemodialysis or Peritoneal dialysis) You may need to keep your pets out of your space while you are doing dialysis.
